Slacktivism is generally a disapproving term that describes the kind of "feel-good" activism that often takes place on social media. The basis of slacktivism is that instead of actually donating money, you're giving your time and a social post in place of that donation. For example, instead of donating $10 to a charity, you create a Facebook post about how much you care about the charity - increasing awareness but lacking any actual donations and long term impact. By placing a subconcious value on our Facebook posts or Tweets, we told ourselves that we had done our part.
