An illustration of a farmyard with giant carrots planted in the ground, and a sheep looking up at one. Frankenfood

Blend of Frankenstein and food, Dr Frankenstein being the creator of the monster in Mary Shelley's novel Frankenstein. The term "frankenfood" is used as a negative slang term for food that has been genetically modified, for example to grow larger or requiring less water. Frankenfood is also used as a descriptor for (often homemade) concoctions that combine ingredients and elements not usually eaten together.
